British singer Elton John has postponed his European and British tour dates to 2023 to undergo surgery because of hip pain.
He announced this on his Twitter.
“It is with great sadness and weight on my heart that I am forced to reschedule my Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour dates in Europe and the United Kingdom to 2023. At the end of my summer vacation, I fell awkwardly on a hard surface and have suffered significant pain and discomfort in my hip ever since. Despite intensive physical therapy sessions and specialist treatment, the pain has continued to worsen,” the musician said in a statement.
Doctors recommended that the singer undergo surgery to prevent the possibility of complications. That said, Elton noted that he will perform Sept. 25 at a Global Citizen charity event, and stressed that it is not at all like spending three hours performing on tour.
“After that, I’ll be undergoing surgery to see if the tour can resume in January 2022 in New Orleans,” the musician stressed, urging fans to wait for the show.
The musician had shows scheduled in Milan, Liverpool and Paris.
