Hitmaker and scandalous artist Lil Nas X has released his debut album “Montero”.
The album includes 13 tracks and feats with artists such as Miley Cyrus, Doja Cat, Jack Harlow and Elton John.
The album was produced by Lil Nas X himself along with Kanye West, Take-a-Daytrip, Omer Fedi, Denzel Baptiste, Ryan Tedder and John Cunningham. And yes, the cover is exactly as promised, with a naked, lube-shiny gay Lil Nas X.
Nas X also described his upcoming debut album as “more personal,” but still “spanking.”
“It brought me a new confidence. To be able to say, ‘You know what? I want to do this.’ And I don’t care who’s upset about it. … I think the moment I pulled that snippet out of that song, I started to slowly notice a change in myself. The world will keep spinning. But I can always do what I want to do in my artistic career, otherwise I will lose, at least for me. I feel that way.”
“People will get angry, they’ll say I’m pushing an agenda. But the truth is, I am. The goal is to get people to stay out of other people’s lives and stop dictating who they should be. Sending you love from the future.”
“Don’t rush in with a huff on the fits with Miley Cyrus, Doja Cat, Jack Harlow and Elton John. This is an author’s album. And the thing is, Lil Nas X has nothing to offer for rap at all, except lyrics about his gays. That’s not enough. Lil Nas X’s timbre is frankly squishy, faded, the music doesn’t interest him at all. But the video, yes, he’s great. It’s funny how it centers around his naked body, but LGBT specificity dictates. I was expecting so much more from the album. It’s a huge disappointment. It happens,” says music critic Guru Ken.
